What is BLDC technology? How is it better than induction technology?
BLDC stands for Brush Less Direct Current. Instead of using the electromagnetic induction technology used in older high power consuming motors, this motor uses a permanent magnet for generating rotational force. Since the permanent magnet is used for generating rotational movement instead of the winding, there is less power consumption and lower heat loss. This helps in saving up to 50% electricity (as compared to an induction fan of 78 W).
This motor also has lower friction due to absence of brushes hence there is lower wear and tear
which increases the life of the motor.
Are BLDC fans noiseless?
As compared to an induction fan motor, the BLDC fan motors are significantly quieter. But the noise that we are able to hear when the fan is working is the air cutting sound. Any high speed fan will have air cutting sound since the blades are rotating.
Fans with ABS blades have lower noise as compared to metal blade fans since the ABS blades are aerodynamically designed to lower the air cutting noise.
How much electricity does a BLDC fan consume/save?
How to pair a remote with a BLDC fan? Or My fan is not taking inputs from the remote. Whatshould I do?
If the remote is not paired with the fan, the fan will not take inputs from the remote and it may seem the fan is not working. Following are the remote pairing steps.
Step 1: Turn off the fan using the wall switch.
Step 2: Press and hold on button on remote.
Step 3: Turn on the fan using the wall switch.
Step 4: For models with speed indicators: Green light will blink 3 times indicating successful pairing.
For models without speed indicators: Speaker will beep 3 times indicating successful pairing.
Can BLDC fans be controlled with a regulator?
Some BLDC models can be operated with a regulator. Currently, EcoLink offers AiroTurbo Regulator model that is compatible with capacitor-based step regulator. The remote compatible fans cannot be controlled with a regulator, and it is necessary to bypass the regulator to ensure optimal performance of the fan.
When I start the fan, it jerks. What is the solution for this?
When the fan starts the magnet aligns with the motor. The initial jerk is to ensure this alignment so that the fan can work properly. This is a common phenomenon and does not require any solution.
Are the BLDC fans certified?
All EcoLink fans are certified as per the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). These are the two apex bodies that certify the safety, functional, and regulatory compliance of all electrical products in India.
Can I operate different fans with the same remote?
Yes, you can operate different fans with the same remote. You will have to pair both the fans to the same remote as per the remote pairing guidelines shared on the back of the remote.
My area has voltage fluctuations. Will BLDC fan function in this condition?
Yes, all EcoLink BLDC fans are designed to sustain voltage fluctuations. BLDC fans give consistent performance even with voltage fluctuations. EcoLink BLDC models can work in the range of 95 – 310 V .
Can a BLDC fan work with a generator?
Yes, BLDC fans can work with an inverter. BLDC fans have a 2x run-time on inverters as compared to an induction fan (of 75 W). Since the BLDC fan consumes 50% lower power, it runs 2x longer on inverter.
My fan is making a noise. How to resolve this?
The noise in a fan can be of multiple types.
• Whooshing sound: This sound is usually produced due to air cutting. Since the blades of the fan cut the air, they tend to produce this sound. This sound is due to the normal operation of the fan.

• Scratching sound: This noise is usually made when there is dust accumulation or if some wire/component has come loose inside the motor. How to connect my BLDC fan to Amazon Alexa/Google Home?
Integration with Google home or Alexa: Follow the instructions given in the WiZ App.
Tap on More options (Settings) → Integrations → Alexa or Google Home → Agree and Link options and follow subsequent instructions.

Can my fan operate smoothly with sine and square wave inverter?
Yes, the fan can function with sine and square wave inverters. The experience depends on the type of inverter:
• Pure sine wave inverter: Fan runs smoothly and quietly with normal speed and performance. It is suitable for long term use.
• Square wave inverter: Fan will usually run but may hum or buzz. Speed may be slightly lower. It is not advised to run the fan on this inverter since it results in lower efficiency and reduction in motor life with prolonged use.

How far should the fan blades be from the ceiling?
The ideal clearance/height from the ceiling to fan blades should be 12-18 inches (1-1.5 feet) to ensure optimum air delivery.
My fan is malfunctioning. How to resolve this?
If the fan is a remote-controlled fan, please check whether the wall regulator has been bypassed.
• If not, kindly bypass the regulator first, as a BLDC fan may malfunction when connected through a regulator.

My fan is wobbling/vibrating. How to resolve this?
Wobbling/Vibrating might happen if the fan is loosely connected to the ceiling. You need to ensure that the fan is installed properly using the brand-recommended down rod only. Failure to do so may result in vibration or wobbling during operation.
